Top 10 Best Christian Homeschool Curriculum Programs
1. BJU Press
BJU Press offers an open-and-go curriculum with colorful physical workbooks and online video lessons students can do themselves. The program requires little prep, prioritizing academic rigor, critical thinking, and a biblical worldview.
The curriculum offers parents two teaching options:
- teach the subject yourself using a teacher’s manual or
- purchase a package where children are taught online video lessons (through BJU teachers), making it adaptable and flexible to your needs.
This curriculum also engages children with hands-on learning, so children aren’t doing only textbook learning.
You can’t go wrong with this program. It’s got lots of great reviews from all the review platforms too.
You can check out BJU Press here.
Schoolhouse Teachers is among the best Christian homeschooling curriculum providers for large families or children with varying interests. This curriculum offers ALL its material for a single fee (monthly, quarterly, or annually).
Unlimited curriculum resources mean if you have a large homeschooling family and need to find a curriculum for them, you can get this for all your children for around $200. (Or you can try Schoolhouse Teachers for $1 using the code ONEDOLLAR here.)
Apart from offering an incredible price, Schoolhouse Teachers also has an insanely huge collection of courses. This extensive collection means that no matter your child’s interests, Schoolhouse Teachers will probably have a Christian version of the course.
Or look at the Schoolhouse Teachers curriculum here.
Generations Homeschool Curriculum stands out as one of the best Christian homeschool curriculum programs available, making it a top pick for families seeking a faith-based education.
Rooted in a solid biblical worldview, Generations infuses every subject with the teachings and truths from the Bible, ensuring that students not only gain knowledge but also develop a deep understanding of their faith.
With a focus on mastery-based learning, this curriculum helps students to progress at their own pace, providing ample time to grasp concepts fully before moving forward.
The hands-on activities and real-world applications foster a joy for learning, making education engaging and impactful.
As a Christian homeschool curriculum, Generations excels in integrating the teachings of the Bible into all aspects of learning, instilling in students a strong moral foundation and a love for God’s Word.
Additionally, the program’s affordability, ranging from $150 to $250 for a mailable homeschool curriculum, makes it an attractive option for Christian families seeking a comprehensive and budget-friendly educational solution.

4. Veritas Press – Book a free Veritas consultation here.
Veritas Press is a solid classical Christian homeschool curriculum that offers the following options:
- live online classes OR
- teach-it-yourself parent manuals.
Live online classes allow students to interact with other students and the teacher. But, if you’re not sure what to pick or you’re new to homeschooling, make sure you book a free consultation with an experienced homeschool mom here.
Veritas Press has a strong focus on teaching children the Bible and giving them a strong Christian worldview.
As far as the curriculum goes, it’s quite rigorous and encourages children to think critically about everything. They also aim to teach according to a child’s developmental level (a classical principle).
You can read a review of Veritas Press here.

Compass Classroom is growing massively in popularity. That is because it offers an online homeschool curriculum using the two most popular homeschool methods, the classical and Charlotte Mason methods*.
This curriculum is written by homeschool parents for homeschool families (which makes it different from many others!). They aim to make teaching easier by creating video lessons that are educational and entertaining!
Compass Classroom also offers support services for parents, such as advice from trained educators and consultants.
And the great thing about Compass Classroom is you can try out their lessons for free. They are also one of the most affordable homeschool curriculum programs on the market today, so take a look at what they have to offer.
A subscription (starting at $39/month or 390/year) gives families access to all courses.

When considering a Christian homeschool curriculum, think about what features you want it to have. Here are some ideas.
The Abeka homeschool curriculum is popular with parents who want to provide their children with a comprehensive education from the comfort of their own homes.
Developed in 1972 by Arlin and Beka Horton, this Christian-based learning system provides K–12 materials that have been tried and tested for over 40 years.
Rooted in traditional educational practices, Abeka’s approach to instruction combines old-fashioned values with modern technology.
With its blend of interactive activities and digital resources, students can benefit from various methods for mastering topics across all core subjects.
Parents appreciate the convenience of ordering books online and access to streaming videos that supplement each lesson plan.
The curriculum also includes quiz and test materials so parents can stay on top of their child’s progress throughout the school year.
I like Abeka, and I used them when I was young, but I’m now using BJU Press which is very similar but a little more affordable.
Like Abeka, Sonlight is also a paper-based curriculum, so it doesn’t offer many opportunities for hands-on play or work. However, parents can incorporate hands-on elements after formal lessons are finished.
If you’re seriously considering Sonlight, you can try it for free by ‘requesting an invitation’ here. You can also find an in-depth Sonlight curriculum review here.
This curriculum is an excellent option for Christian parents who want to give their children a classical education.
Memoria Press is a classical program that can be mailed worldwide (as such, it’s also an excellent option for gifted children). A classical curriculum like Memoria Press allows homeschoolers to exercise their minds rigorously in logic and challenges them using classical Christian methods.
What is classical education?
Students learn the trivium in classical education’s grammar, logic, and rhetoric phases. Thus, studying the trivium means homeschoolers will learn Latin, debating, logic, argumentation, and many other things students learned 100 (or 2000) years ago.
Check out the Memoria Press curriculum here.
Accelerated Christian Education (ACE or ACE paces) is another Christian homeschool curriculum that’s been around for a long time.
Students can study at their own ‘pace’ using this program, differentiating ACE from other programs.
Learning with ACE means children don’t study according to their grade level or age but their understanding. As such, the word ‘accelerated’ does not mean the work is more complex than any other homeschooling curriculum or you have to have gifted children to do it.
If you’re looking for an affordable Christian homeschooling curriculum, look no further. Easy Peasy All-in-One is a free online program for Grades K-12.
With huge Facebook groups in every country, Easy Peasy is probably the most loved free Christian home education program available today. Even though it’s free, it’s considered very good and is listed as one of Cathy Duffy’s 102 Picks.
Even though Easy Peasy is free, the author has done a lot to make the homeschooling curriculum high-quality. For instance, Easy Peasy has PDF sheets that you can print if you want to work offline. In addition, the course is all linked to online resources, so you shouldn’t need additional materials.
Masterbooks is a homeschool curriculum provider with a mission to provide resources that will help families learn from a biblical worldview. Founded in 1984, Masterbooks has served as an innovative leader in Christian education for over 30 years. With over 700 titles and growing, the Masterbooks curriculum offers courses ranging from preschool to high school that cover topics such as Bible, science, history, economics, art and more.
The company’s products are designed with both parents and students in mind. Their interactive materials are written by experienced educators who have tailored the content specifically to meet each student’s individual needs. All materials come complete with detailed lesson plans and activities so that parents can confidently teach their children at home without having any prior teaching experience or knowledge of the subject material themselves.
Masterbooks aims to loosely use the Charlotte Mason homeschooling method in its materials.
It also makes things fun by including Unit Studies, so children aren’t just sitting in their chairs all day.
*If you don’t know about the homeschool methods, you can learn that by doing my free homeschool methods quiz here.)
Science Homeschool Program for Christians
When parents are looking for a Christian homeschooling curriculum, their deepest concern is often getting a program that promotes a biblical worldview in its science program.
Apologia Science specializes in doing this. The program is created so Christian parents can confidently teach their children a creationist view of science.
It strongly emphasizes equipping students to answer questions about their faith and biblical beliefs around science. For this reason, Apologia Science is one of the best Christian homeschooling curriculum programs you can find today.
Answers in Genesis Science Homeschool Curriculum is the perfect choice for homeschool families looking for a comprehensive, biblically based science program. This program gives students a thorough understanding of the world through a creationist perspective, incorporating both scientific evidence and God’s Word. The curriculum provides an academically rigorous approach to science while also challenging students to think critically and apply Biblical wisdom. Through this program, children can develop an appreciation for nature and gain an understanding of how science relates to their faith.
In many ways Answers in Genesis is similar to Apologia Science.
Check out Answers in Genesis here.
College Prep Science, developed by Greg Landry, is a comprehensive science curriculum designed specifically for homeschooling families.
With a biblical focus on scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and process reasoning, this program aims to equip students with the necessary skills for their high school and college years while incorporating a Christian worldview.
One of the notable features of College Prep Science is the “pre” classes, which were introduced by Greg Landry a decade ago.
These classes, including Pre-Biology, Pre-Anatomy & Physiology, Pre-Chemistry, and Pre-Physics, serve as an excellent foundation for middle school students transitioning into high school-level science courses.
The strength of College Prep Science lies in its challenging nature.
By incorporating a Christian and creationist worldview, the curriculum provides a framework for students to engage with scientific concepts from a biblical perspective.
It encourages students to think critically and explore the connections between science and faith, fostering a comprehensive understanding of the natural world.
History Homeschool Program for Christians
Probably the most popular homeschool history curriculum for Christian homeschoolers is Notgrass History (you can see Notgrass History reviewed here).
The Notgrass Homeschool History curriculum provides an engaging and comprehensive approach to learning history. It combines narrative-based textbooks, primary sources, literature selections, and hands-on activities. Covering various historical topics, it promotes critical thinking and analysis through discussion questions and assignments. The curriculum includes supplemental resources, emphasizes Christian values, and fosters a love for reading. Overall, it offers a well-rounded educational experience, equipping students with a strong historical foundation.
Check out Notgrass History here.
Online Christian Homeschool Curriculum
Monarch (replacing Switched-on-Schoolhouse which has been discontinued for now) is an online subscription-based program produced by Alpha Omega Publications. It is one of the best online Christian homeschooling curriculum packages on the market today.
Monarch seems to be modeled after the traditional educational model. However, it is different from Abeka and BJU in that everything is online.
For example, tests are saved online, and everything is recorded, making for easy record keeping and good student-accountability logs. Because the program is online, homeschoolers can leave notes for their parents and vice versa if they have questions about the material or want to leave a note to explain the work. If children get something wrong, they can go back over it, correct it, and rework their grade on the topic.
Schoolhouse Teachers are an inexpensive online homeschool curriculum that provides you with lesson plans, letting you make the homeschool you want to make.
They offer extensive resources so your child can choose almost any subject they like for a very low price!
Check them out here.
Charlotte Mason Christian Homeschool Curriculum
Masterbooks, a Christian homeschool curriculum provider, has been helping families teach their children fundamental skills in the comfort of their own home since 1986. Their purpose has always been to bring God’s truth into the lives of children through a wide variety of captivating learning materials (that are generally based on Charlotte Mason methods).
The Masterbooks curriculum offers easy-to-understand books with colorful illustrations and engaging material that helps kids learn in an interactive way. Bible stories and concepts are integrated throughout all subject areas including language arts, math, history, science, art and music so parents can rest assured they’re providing quality education while teaching kids about the bible. Additionally, Masterbooks provides supplemental resources such as worksheets, coloring pages and activity sheets to make learning even more exciting for young minds.
Simply Charlotte Mason (SCM) is a homeschooling curriculum styled after the Charlotte Mason method of education. The program is different from many other curricula in that it has concise lessons (a hallmark of CM education) and incorporates a lot of nature study and habit training. Because lessons are short, parents find this curriculum is great if they want a flexible homeschool lifestyle.
Living books (books that come alive to the reader as they use engaging narrative to teach concepts) are also used, so children get exposure to reading plenty of books. At the same time, their love of learning is fostered simultaneously. If you like the CM method, Simply Charlotte Mason is a good option to consider.
A Gentle Feast is a great Christian homeschool curriculum that brings the family together as much as possible. The program aims to teach children truth and beauty through living books that give them a strong academic basis.
Charlotte Mason in a Box is a mailable homeschool curriculum that gives you everything you will need for one grade level year, making this an easy curriculum to get started using.
A fantastic free option if you’re interested in the Charlotte Mason method is Ambleside Online. Ambleside offers free PDFs of Mason’s home education series which helps teach parents the Mason method. The downside is that you have to buy many books, but it is still a very inexpensive option.
Classical Christian Homeschool Curriculum
Memoria Press is a favorite Christian homeschool curriculum for parents who want a classical education curriculum. The program is mailable and is available for all ages. Check out an extended review of Memoria Press here.
Memoria is very popular among classical educators and offers possibly the best classical program around today. They’ve won multiple awards, especially for their Latin courses.
Classical Conversations is a Christian curriculum modeled after the Classical education style. Like Veritas Press, this program is available to children of all ages. However, it is most often done in homeschool co-ops as families meet a few times a week to go over the material.
3. Veritas Press – Book a free Veritas consultation here.
If you want a Classical homeschooling curriculum but don’t want to attend a co-op to get the benefits, you should consider Veritas Press.
This program is a mailable curriculum as well as an online curriculum modeled after the classical homeschooling method.
In addition, it has great Christian content, which children get largely from the plethora of classical books they’ll read.
Veritas Press also produces the Phonics Museum, an online learn-to-read program that engages children to help them read using their attractive graphics.
You can book a FREE consultation with Veritas Press here and chat about homeschooling with an experienced homeschool parent.
Unit Studies Christian Homeschool Curriculum
Because it is a hands-on curriculum, it engages children by teaching them through physical activities and tactile experiences. In addition, because parents can teach all children in the family simultaneously, it’s a great homeschool curriculum for large families.
Every month or two, children will study a character trait like (obedience and trust) in a unit. Simultaneously, students learn basic subjects like Math, English, and the Bible.
Gather Round Homeschool is a new homeschool curriculum written by Rebecca Spooner a former homeschool student and a current homeschool mom.
This program seems to follows the Unit Studies method but is a work in progress with only four years written. But, it seems a hit so far, so check it out.
Free Christian Homeschool Curriculum
Ambleside Online is a free curriculum that uses the Charlotte Mason homeschooling style. It is one of the best free Christian homeschooling curriculum packages on the market today.
The curriculum is a large collection of Charlotte Mason resources with links to PDF living books, many of which are free. In addition, the website also gives you access to Charlotte Mason books (such as Home Education) that are free. These books are essential and guide educators in the CM homeschooling method.
One of the best Christian homeschool curriculum packages today is Easy Peasy All-in-One. The program is great for supplementing any curriculum you may already have bought, and comes with the best price tag of all!
You can find out more about it here.
High School Christian Homeschool Curriculum
Most homeschooling programs on this page have high school programs, but the one below is one that specifically caters to Christian homeschoolers.
1. Northgate Academy Christian Homeschool Program for High School
Northgate Academy offers a Christian homeschooling curriculum to families with high school-aged students at an affordable price. In addition, they present material in an online format, so it is accessible from anywhere in the world.
They offer accreditation from the North Central Association CASI, the Southern Association of Colleges and School CASI, and the Northwest Accrediting Commission.
Students don’t have to wait until next semester to start; instead, they can enroll anytime and start their studies immediately. You can find out more about Northgate Academy here.
Mailable Christian Homeschool Curriculum
1. BJU Press
A popular mailable Christian homeschool curriculum is BJU Press. BJU teaches a Christian worldview and is easy to order, coming straight to your door. It’s the program I use with my own kids.
If you’re after a traditional hard-copy homeschooling curriculum that’s been around for a long time, you have to check out Christian Light Education. They employ a spiral learning model as they run children through subjects using a Christian worldview.
Children do a pace every fortnight, helping them feel a sense of achievement and love of learning. Best of all, you can grab a basic kindergarten package for under $100. Bargain! Check out more about Christian Light Education in this review.
Lifepac is a mailable Christian homeschool curriculum produced by Alpha Omega publications. It is self-paced and students can teach themselves the material if they can read.
Horizons is also a mailable curriculum, but it is parent-led and parents do a lot more work as they ‘teach’ the material to the child. Horizons tends to start earlier and might be better for younger age groups like kindergarten. (It’s also used in schools.)
