Saxon is a stand alone math subject that many homeschool families choose to use because it has a standing history of strong creditiblity. Dr. Saxon at OU wrote this math & is was used in public schools as a state approved curriculum in multiple states as early as the 1980s.

I would like to leave a review for the A.C.E accelerated Christian Education curriculum. I pieced together my homeschool curriculum for the first few years, but I did think at the grade 5 level for my oldest son we should get curriculum. There was a large local church that had a bible school and a children’s school as well years ago. This school used the A.C.E. program so I had heard of it and knew of a child that went thru the school. She and her Mother lived with my family for about 5 years. I liked the workbooks she had. They were colorful and seemed well done. I dreamed of homeschooling someday when I would get married. 20 years later here I am homeschooling. When I was looking into curriculum we had tried some online things already and now we were in the middle of a pandemic so I decided an offline curriculum was a good fit(summer 2020). My boys started worksheets, printing and writing later than those in school so I wanted then to be doing a lot more now that they were older. Also for our family taking responsibility for ones education and independent learning were skills we wanted to teach our boys. Both the boys went through the diagnostic tests and the 8 year old was in three different grade levels for 6 subjects. Literature & creative writing and word building (spelling) were grade 2 science and social studies grade 3 and math and English grade 4. He was a bit behind in reading which is why the grade 2 subjects. My oldest (11) had two grades. It’s a great program so flexible in matching to their ability. They get 12 mini workbooks or (paces) that are the text and workbook combined. They read instructions and do the assignment. There are fill in the blank, underline, matching, crossword puzzles, word searches etc. There are 12 in each subject for the year so 6 subjects = 72 books. The books are strategically numbered so the child cannot readily see which grade it is. Ex. 1025. The child progresses through their books at the pace they chose. ACE recommends the child set their own goals daily which begins goal setting habits from an early age. Each book should take about 3 weeks. Each pace book has a bible verse and a characteristic that they learn about in each book(ex. Kindness) . All subjects are taught from a Christian world view. My husband and I have really liked the curriculum. It is quite in-depth. I really like the math program. In grade 4 each book does addition, subtraction, multiplication and Division. They do a bit of Roman numerals, rounding, as well but over and over so much practice. It’s been good for both our boys. They now have a great foundation to build more complex math concepts onto. The students are supposed to use the score books to score their own work and correct any mistakes. Each pace has two quizzes called check ups and a final test. The pass mark is 80%. If they do not pass they are required to do the pace over. We erased our paces when they had to redo. Shipping time would have delayed the process to much, but one could purchase another pace at less than $5 Canadian. Their Canadian social studies is incredible. Very well done. I never knew hardly any of the history of our country or the US. Amazing. The curriculum is reasonably priced about $500 per student per year. My youngest son has caught on to time management and understands that he is in control of his schooling so he has worked ahead. He has completed his grade 2 subjects by the end of January and will complete grade 3 in the same 2 subjects by June then will do grade 4 during the summer and will have all 6 subjects at grade 5 for September. an entire year ahead of where he should be. This is the beauty and flexibility of this program. There is no perfect program but all the skills my boys are learning for our family this is such a great fit we will be continuing to use it indefinitely. We really like ACE. 4 stars out of 5

We were a military family, so to keep their schooling consistent (and living in places where the public schools were ranked very low) we homeschooled with ACE.
When my 3 kids were in their teens, we moved to a country that had a very good DoD school on the base. 2 of my 3 children wanted to enroll in that base school. 1 opted to continue homeschooling.
After some time went by, one of my son’s teachers asked where I had gone to college. I answered, “I didn’t attend college”. She knew my kids had been homeschooled and was confused at my answer, stating that he was so learned in his subjects, I would have to have had some college education. So I explained the ACE Pace program to her.
It has served our family well! And now we continue with the grandkids!!!
The 1 child who chose to continue with homeschooling is working on the last semester of her Bachelor’s, all online, while working full time. I truly believe the ACE Pace program has been a lifelong help.
Fantastic to hear Charlotte. I recently did an extended review of ACE and liked it too. There are a lot of good Christian homeschool curriculum programs out there. I like ACE because it is quite affordable.
Is there a reason why The Good and the Beautiful is not on your list? I know some have moral issues with the denomination of the author, however, I do know a lot of homeschool Christian parents who choose it. Thanks for answering as I am a first-time homeschool mom trying to navigate the difficult decisions of curriculum choices. I have read through all of Charlotte Mason and have avid readers who would benefit from her teaching methods, however, am a first-time mom who needs some guidance throughout the curriculum for some sort of structure. Also I am dealing with a 7th grader and a 2nd grader in the coming year which is quite a challenge to navigate learning levels as well. Thanks again!

The Good and the Beautiful is written by a lady in the LDS church so I guess some would say it is not gospel-centered. Some say it is Christian, others do not. I’m just being conservative.
